6th YEAR? and misc stuff....

Yup, 6 years ago, Dick asked me to go out after work, have a margarita and celebrate Cinco de Mayo. He said he asked a bunch of other Malibu co-workers - but no one showed up!! Odd.  We had a good time and began dating shortly after that!  The surprising thing is, yesterday, he confessed..... "I really did not invite others." :-0  He just wanted to see ME!!! Toooooooooo cute!
So, every year, we recall that date, have a few margaritas and eat mexican food! His parents are staying with us in SF at this time because Jane has an appointment to have some injections in her back to relieve her pain. We all enjoyed the day!

Here are a few RANDOM photos from the week:

Gabby 'sunning' herself on the patio - with head on carpet still!! LOL

ROSES - from Dick - Just because he LOOOOOOOOOVES me!! :)  And they smell good too!!
Jane and Bill - and of course their adopted baby - Gabby!
We've had some rainy days here in SF so Gabby needed her raincoat.
This was taken when I forgot her raincoat at Taylor's baseball game on Saturday. Poor thing!
We've been enjoying our run every morning - about 4.5 miles, getting plenty of rest and really enjoying our time in SF this past week.

On Friday, I'll fly to Huntington Beach to spend the weekend - til Monday - with Amy.  Dick will be in SF with Gary and Kathi Artis! I am sorry to have missed them.  :(  Now that tax season is over, Kathi can finally come out and play!! YEAH!!

I am reading a little book, "The Purpose of Christmas" by Rick Warren that the Singer family gave us for Christmas.  I read just a few pages a day and let the message sink in. I really enjoy this book and read something today that has been hanging with me that I thought I'd share....

The chapter is on peace. It explains that 'The starting point to peace in your life is understanding conflict.  There are many reasons, but here are two big ones.  The first is our natural self-centeredness. When I want everything my way, and you want it your way, then my agenda clashes with yours.  If neither of us is willing to compromise out of love, sparks fly....." The Bible verse that is short and TO THE POINT that I will try to memorize:
Provers 13:10: "Only by pride cometh contention."
I would not want to give you a cliff hanger.....so, I will let you know the second reason.....
"A second common, but less understood, cause of conflict is expecting others to meet needs in our lives that only God can meet. We make demands of others instead of looking to God."

It is really THAT easy!!  Along with keeping the EGO in check!! Dick and I do a pretty darn good job of keeping our relationship on an even path.  I know the answer is due to our love of God and trying our best to follow Jesus' example.  Yea, we are not perfect but the effort sure is helpful!!
